HOME GAS
Gas bottles delivered to your door, whenever you need them. Most Auckland homes use LPG for three things: firing up the BBQ, keeping warm, and hot water when they’re off the mains gas grid. Top Gas covers all three — refilled, swapped or delivered across the North Shore and Rodney.
BBQ & outdoor cooking — the 9kg bottle is the standard size for most home BBQs.
Common uses
BBQ & outdoor cooking — the 9kg bottle is the standard size for most home BBQs. Home heating — cabinet heaters and patio heaters run off a 9kg bottle; whole-home heating typically runs off 45kg bottles. Hot water & cooking — homes off reticulated gas commonly run cooking and hot water off 45kg bottles, usually installed as a pair on a changeover valve so you’re never without supply while one’s being swapped. Caravans & camping — 9kg bottles are the standard fit for most caravan and camping setups.
Bottle sizes for home use
9kg — around 17 litres, roughly 450–525mm tall (varies by bottle). Built for BBQs, patio and cabinet heaters, caravans and camping. 45kg — around 88 litres, roughly 1250mm tall. Built for home heating, cooking and hot water. Most homes run two on a changeover valve, so the second kicks in automatically when the first runs dry. (Dimensions are approximate — they vary slightly by manufacturer.)
How swap works vs refill
A swap means handing over your empty bottle and walking away with a full one that’s already in test — the fastest option, and what most BBQ customers choose. A refill means we top up the bottle you already own, provided it’s still within its 10-year test date. Either way, you’re covered — see our gas safety guide (/gas-safety) for how bottle testing works.
Same-day delivery
[FILL: confirm actual turnaround — e.g. “book before X, delivered same day” — across most of the North Shore and Rodney.]
